I bought this at a more normal price of $109; that's slightly higher than the standard of $90, but the $109 prices included three additional cutting blades that are normally optional for this unit.This is a wonderful accessory for the Bamix. It does everything a food processor does except nut butters (though there may be a way to do them that I haven't figured out). The unit has a tiny footprint. And it's extremely quick to assemble and to clean. As for safety, most food processors leach endocrine disruptors into food. As far as I can tell, the SliceSY is made of polypropylene, which is pretty safe as plastics go.The bowl is obviously smaller than a full size processor: it will make a single rather than a double pie crust, and if you use this to make sauerkraut you will have to cut the cabbage into smaller slices and process it in batches. But it still does the job. I love it.I just love this Bamix slicer attachment!! I bought the Bamix first, then realized I needed this too. With the Bamix inserted, it quickly slices everything you put in it for salads or soups. The Bamix slicer slices everything uniformly and quickly and is an absolute breeze to clean up.Shop around, and you can buy a full-sized food-processor for less; but that's missing the point. All too often, you don't want to get out a big machine to make a salad for two or a bit of pastry. For a couple, or if you're a keen cook working with small quantities, it's a good choice. This really does add to the versatility of your Bamix, and you'll keep reaching for it. Others have mentioned that you can't dump the top in a sink full of water or the dishwasher; that's true of similar attachments from other manufacturers (Braun, for example), but the plastic wipes clean easily. The design of the main bowl, with the internal base you can pull out, is particularly clever, and the slicing and grating blades work well; you can produce a passable julienne of carrots (for example) with ease. What isn't good is that the feed tube is so narrow; you can't really slice a cucumber or potatoes for a Gratin Dauphinoise with this. It won't look good sitting on your work surface, as it's curiously utilitarian and austere, and you'll need to find a small box to store the blades; but this is much more useful than you'd expect and I'm glad I bought it.Liked the idea of having just one machine in kitchen, replacing blenders and processor.Unfortunately it struggles grating carrot both in power and capacity of bowl. Also struggled with cheese that got smeared around above the blade and in the feeder. This makes it difficult to clean as you can't put it in dishwasher or submerge in water.The feeder tube is narrow so you have to chop stuff to get it inI have not used the slicer yet but have had a Bamix hand held for more than 20 years and its one of the best hand held mixers in the market. In that context I expect to get long service from the slicer.Not my favourite accessory but eliminates some of the risk of slicing your fingers that comes with poor handling of a Madeline Manuel kitchen slicer/grater.Makes perfect pastry dough!
