Item for me was very expensive, but I was tired of blenders that wouldn't make good smoothies, or drinks. So I bit the bullet and bought this. It made a fabulous smoothie so far, and perfect hummus. I tried the lemon test as shown on the video. I had a bit more left over than on the video, but I was very well satisfied. I actually mixed the whole lemon juice with club soda and some stevia and drank it. Gotta be healthy! It does have a smell, which the seller said is oil that is used for the motor, and will dissipate with time.As far as the cleaning, if there is food on the top of the blender, and you put the cover on to blend it with a bit of detergent, well, you still have to clean the top part of the blender. Not a problem though.i like it better than my previous types (nutri-ninja and nutri-bullet), although these were ok for the tasks i used, with the upside-down containers. easier to make thick smoothies which is my goal. i find it bothersome to get all the contents out though. but i guess that this is typical for this upright type. vitamix must be the same. i have made smoothies, almond milk, ground almonds to flour, babaganoush, hummus, gazpacho, fatty coffees, milkshakes, summerdrinks,Did not meet my expection based on the advertisement when compared with the Vitamix about having less residue after blending. I would have returned it and pay the extra to get the Vitamix but I kept it two month before using and didn't want to hassle with return policyLove it for smoothiesGood quality blenderI was looking for a blender that did a lot more than what you might find in a department store, but wasn't as high price as the Vita-Mix or Blentec blenders, and came across this unit. I was also able to see some videos online about it, and went for it. I can't say I'm disappointed at all. I've owned it for about four years now, and used it hundreds of times. This unit will obliterate almost anything you put in it. It easily crushes ice, nuts, and more. Comparing it to the high end blenders, it seems to have just as much power as anything else I've seen, and the unit seems very robust. If you're thinking you want a top notch blender but don't have $500 to drop, this is a great value. There are a couple things you should know about this unit, and blenders in general though. First, I have found that the blenders costing nearly twice this much will pulverize tiny seeds a little better than the Omni blender. It seems to do with the shape of the container, or perhaps that this is a universal blade, while those have wet and dry blades. This isn't to imply it won't chop seeds. It does. But the highest end blenders completely obliterate them, this somewhat does. Next, this unit, like all powerful blenders, is not quiet. If you live in an apartment with thin walls and like to make a smoothie at 5am it may be an issue. Though you can buy enclosures for it. Finally, it might go without saying, but blenders aren't juicers, or food processors. Make sure you're buying the product you need (though both are very handy). This rating was really more of a 2.5 based on the false warranty. They posted "7 year warranty" on the box simply because Vitamix does the same. I had this blender for 3-4 years and it worked pretty well, in all honesty... Until it stopped working. It started smoking and seems like it may explode. I wasn't to upset initially because of that guarantee, but the imaginary warranty has really destroyed my entire experience with the company. They've basically tossed their hand up. One rep stated the BLENDER has a SEVEN year warranty, but the blender's MOTOR only has a TWO year warranty... and this sounds like a MOTOR issue. What is a blender if not the motor? The pitcher? Does the pitcher have a 7 year warranty. If you want a blender to last a few years and then be disposable, I'd say go for it. I've decided to just go the Vitamix route. The new blenders have a 10 year warranty and its definitely waaaay more worth the bang for your buck at that point. I don't want to buy a new blender every few years since it ends up costing more in the end. He's probably a good guy, but I didn't really get our last interaction with suggesting "bugs" were inside the blender:"Dear AnthonyWe are the TAIWAN company, China Factory, Our assembley factory is in China, if you bring it to our factory, we will check and repair it. Now you are in USA, you should ask for your supplier to repair it. But we have to issue some common sense regarding motor as following:Most of commercial blenders damage(including motor & carbon brush damage) because of juice & foods poured on the coushion and pulled into and cause damage to the motor and PCB, or use on kitchen, smoke, oil and dust go inside, it is very dirty and difficult to clean, insects grown-up.dirty motor base with insects and oil inside, we will change whole motor base with PCB and charge customer.dirty cover, we will change a new cover and charge them.Rgds/Pinky"im taking time out of my vaca to warn people not to spend this kind of money on this blender, it is a POS! im using the omniblend at our vacation rental, and i hate it! it throws all your contents up all over the sides of the container, even if you start on low. i make a smoothie every day and use expensive green powders that are just wasted. it requires additional liquid every time, just to make it work, and it never really blends well. at home i have used an inexpensive Faberware bullet type blender for almost 2 years that works very well and is easy to clean, i only paid $40. i also own an expensive Vitamix that works very well and is a lifelong investment, but my Faberware is easier to use and i can carry it with me places. pay extra and get the Vitamix, or the cheap Faberware or Bullet!
