I did a lot of research on blenders before committing to this one, including polling friends and family with discerning taste when it comes to cooking and appliances. I ended up choosing this one based on its simplicity and the three year warranty, a rarity in most anything you can purchase today. This model is simple, easy to clean, nice looking, and most importantly, has an awesome way with Margaritas and smoothies. And it isn't nearly as loud as I feared it would be based on what many of the other reviewers had said. I highly recommend it.Update from the owner: The bottom of the blender jar started to rust about a year into owning this, so I emailed Oster and they sent me a replacement jar at no cost - good service.Update # 2: Sadly this blender died in Nov 2013 when the toggle switch came out. The motor was still fine so my husband took it apart and tried to glue the switch back in place, but it didn't work. So, five years of use isn't bad, but I really wish products would last longer as I hate sending things to the landfill. I really liked the power and simplicity of this blender, which I used mostly for slushies and margaritas. However I decided to replace it with a Vitamix Pro 300 as I'm now making more smoothies with kale and other tough stuff. The Vitamix is in a different class in terms of price point and functionality, so is WAY more quiet than the Oster and I find myself using it for more things as the container is larger, such as pureeing hot soups. It also comes with a 7 year warranty (with an option to extend to 10 if you purchase direct from Vitamix).
